Consultation

Consultation can be providers for mental health therapists, as well as any other human who wants my support in integrating anti-racism into their work and their lives.

In our 55-minute consultation, we will embark on a journey that blends the profound insights of Jungian psychology with the urgent, transformative work of embodying anti-racist values. This session is designed to create a space where you can explore your inner world, confront unconscious biases, and deepen your commitment to anti-racism in your personal and professional life.

1. Setting the Stage: We begin by establishing a safe, non-judgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I will guide you in grounding and centering exercises to help you connect with your inner self and prepare for the deep work ahead. This initial moment is about creating a container—a sacred space where the transformative work of self-exploration can occur.

2. Uncovering the Unconscious: Using the lens of Jungian psychology, we’ll delve into the unconscious influences that shape your perspectives on race and identity. We will explore the shadow—those aspects of yourself that may be hidden, repressed, or denied—and how it might manifest in your interactions and decision-making. Through guided reflection, we’ll identify archetypal patterns that may influence your relationship with power, privilege, and race.

3. Confronting and Integrating: This part of the consultation involves confronting the uncomfortable truths that may arise when examining your own racial biases and behaviors. I will support you in staying present with these emotions, guiding you through a process of active imagination or other reflective practices to dialogue with these shadow aspects. The goal is to bring these unconscious elements into conscious awareness where they can be acknowledged and integrated in an aligned and less oppressive way.

4. Embodying Anti-Racist Values: We will then move into discussing how you can embody anti-racist values more fully in your work. This involves not just intellectual understanding but also emotional and psychological alignment with these values. Together, we’ll explore practical strategies for making anti-racism an integral part of your daily actions, decisions, and professional responsibilities. You’ll leave with concrete steps that align your outer behavior with your inner commitment to justice and equality.

5. Reflection: In the final part of our consultation, we’ll take time to reflect on what has emerged during our time together. We’ll discuss how you can continue to work with the insights gained and integrate them into your ongoing personal and professional development. I’ll offer suggestions for further reading, practices, or follow-up sessions to support your journey.

By the end of our session, you will have a deeper understanding of the unconscious forces that shape your relationship with race, along with practical tools to more fully embody anti-racist values in your work. This consultation is not just about change on the surface; it’s about fostering a profound, transformative shift that aligns your inner self with the outer actions needed to contribute to a more just and equitable world.
